There are a lot of options available for operating the curtain system that you ultimately choose. The methods of operating depend on circumstances.
- Curtains that are difficult or hard to operate will generally not get opened and closed as often as they should to provide the best ventilation for your livestock.
- Curtain system and the operating systems that run them should be easy to understand, easy to use and reliable.
- Controllers should be placed in a convenient location to operate that allows the user to see the curtains position. It is not as enjoyable to operate you curtains standing in the pouring rain as it is from the comfort of the inside of the building.
Options Available For Curtain Operators Include:
Manual drives
Curtains operated with a manual system can be opened and closed either with a hand crank or cordless drill using the adapter provided. Manual systems work best with there is not electricity run to the barn or when you do not expect to operate the curtains often – for example closed all winter and open all summer.
Reversing Switches
Curtains operated with reversing switches are a touch of the button type system. Push the button one way to roll the curtain up and the other way to roll the curtain down. This is the most popular option we sell and works well to adjust curtains frequently by people who know and understand the operation.
Limit Switches
Curtains operated with limit switches will help prevent over rolling of the curtains which can cause damage to the curtains and or motors. This option allows curtains to be adjusted frequently. Using limit switches is often helpful when several different people are operating the curtains who may or may not know the correct way to operate them.
Full Temperature Controlled
This type of system includes limit switches that are told when to open close curtains based on temperature probes placed inside the building. The controller giving the instructions may be the same controller this is instructing the fan system or one can be purchased separately, if needed.
